Mount Bromo is one of the eastern java icon that has been recognized by the world and still be one of the favorite tourist destinations in eastern Java.
There are several paths that can be passed to reach the bromo mountain . I have two favourite track to get there.
The first line through Tosari Pasuruan.
Through this path you will be presented with views of the green hills and a very beautiful lava path to Tosari village. Mount bromo has the best view of sunrise when viewed from bromo mountain climbing located in the village Tosari Pasuruan. You will be charged entrance fee at the entrance of bromo mountain entrance in Tosari Pasuruan village, the price of entrance of last bromo mountain which i know in the year 2017 is 35K for local tourists and 60K for foreign tourists. Rates of lodging in Tosari relatively cheap ranged between the price of 150K to 350K. No need to be too luxurious because you only ride a little sleep and will go early at 02.30 am if you want to see sunrise in Penanjakan.
To be able to see the sunrise in penanjakan you must use a 4WD vehicle. If your car is not 4WD, in Tosari they provided JEEP 4WD rental with a price of 600K which can fill 5 to 6 passengers. With that price you will be escorted seated sunrise in penanjakan and in invite around in the sea of sand.
The second line through Tongas Probolinggo.
Through this path there can find the waterfall Madakaripura, this waterfall is unique and according to history it is the place Maha Patih Gajah Mada having a meditation.

Back to the topic of bromo, through the Tongas route when approaching the District Sukapura we are also presented with a view that is not less beautiful with views through the path tosari. Here the streets are also winding with views of the green hills. The price of entrance ticket bromo mountain location is also the same 35K for local tourists and 60K for foreign tourists. Lodging in Sukapura area is almost the same range of 150K to 500K depending on how good the lodging is.
To be able to see the sunrise in penanjakan you have to depart earlier than the Tosari Pasuruan path that is about 01.00 am you must have departed by using JEEP 4WD. Total JEEP in Tosari and Tongas approximately 1500 Jeep so the earlier departing will be able to park the closest to the climb. If you are too late to go then you have to walk far enough to reach the climb.
Sunrise to be awaited from 02.30 or 03.00 hours to appear at dawn around 04.30 hours you will be served with a very cold feeling piercing bones. But in pampering many sellers mui cup and coffee that can help keep your body warm.
Once satisfied to see the sunrise from penanjakan you will be invited down the steep hills to the sea of sand mountain bromo.
Jeep will stop near the divider and we can continue the journey to the crater of Mount Bromo or just being in the temple in the middle of the sea of sand on foot. Can also rent a horse with a price of 20K for one way or 40K to pick up again and take you back to JEEP.
If you still have the energy you can climb to the crater of Mount Bromo by climbing thousands of these steps to reach it.
Around Pura there are many sellers of meatballs and boiled noodles to boost your energy. But unfortunately there are only 2 public toilets in this sand sea location so my advice before you leave for climbing prepare yourself, drink as necessary during the trip and make sure you have a bow before leaving because if you experience it in the sea of sand will be very inconvenient as well.
